Submissions
Before putting in an application please consider that this is an artist run gallery, with membership fees, and an expectation of taking part in it's two yearly fundraisers. It will be necessary for you to live near enough to come to meetings, and to sit in the gallery on the weekends when your show is on.
Fort Gallery Membership information
THE FORT GALLERY is a community based, nonprofit, artist collective that encourages and supports individual development and exploration in contemporary art. THE FORT GALLERY features artists who are exploring their personal edge, their individual frontiers, in order to discover their full potential and dialogue with community. Members support the creative process in one another and work together to determine the exploration and direction of the gallery, organizing exhibitions and events that maintain a viable local venue for contemporary arts.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Fort Gallery;
Please put together 8 – 10 images
(preferably jpegs, approx. 600 x 800 pixels, at 72 dpi) and email them to info@fortgallery.ca along with a current CV, and a “letter of interest” – stating the nature (content, ideas, goals, etc..) of your work, and your reasons for wanting to be involved in the gallery.
Submissions will be reviewed by a jury committee of gallery members. This process will usually take approximately 3 to 4 weeks, after which we will contact you with a decision.
The gallery has a limit on how many members it can accommodate, and there may not be an opening for new artists when you apply. However, we do encourage applications at any time of the year, and if accepted, your information will be kept on file until an opening is available.
