Board Member, Student Representative
The Fort Gallery is seeking applications for a Student Representative to join the gallery’s board as a voting board member. This initiative supports the gallery’s commitment to strengthening connections with local post-secondary institutions and emerging artists.
The Fort Gallery gallery is situated on the banks of the Fraser River, in the historic town of Fort Langley, on unceded Kwantlen, Katzie, Semiahmoo and Matsqui territory. The Fort Gallery is the first and only artist-run centre in the Fraser Valley region.
The student board representative position requires a commitment of approximately 4-6 hours per month. Responsibilities include:

- attending and contributing to monthly board meetings
- raising the gallery’s profile with post-secondary students by making presentations to art departments and student groups at local post-secondary institutions and reaching out via email and social media
- encouraging students to get involved with the gallery through volunteer opportunities and attending exhibitions and events
- proposing ideas for increasing engagement with post-secondary institutions

- contribute to building the Fraser Valley’s first artist-run centre
Qualifications:
- currently enrolled in a studio art program at a Fraser Valley post-secondary institution
- self-motivated
- community-focused
- experience organizing events, working/volunteering in a gallery context, serving on a board is an asset
- able to commit 4-6 hours per month to gallery (board meetings, openings, connecting with university students)
