Fort Gallery is thrilled to present the group exhibition After Apple-Picking, comprised of Fine Art Students from the Fraser Valley region. The exhibition is a showcase of new work featuring a range of mediums, styles and subject matter.
The title of the exhibition references a Robert Frost poem of the same name. In this quiet poem the protagonist works harvesting apples before the winter. It has day-to-day qualities of effort and labour which contrast Frost's better known poem The Road Not Taken whose protagonisttakes a singular decisive action which concludes in the famous line 'I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.' This exhibition presents a different narrative to being an artist and explores the labour and commitment involved after a decision is made.
